i think the most important thing for parents is to judge their kids with their own perimeters. it is not a good practice of comparing one kid to another. that only creates difference, not unity.

The big concern for me is the car seat and car manufacturer instructed me to use the seat belt to anchor in the combination seat. We have the Graco Nautilus (5pt harness) for my 4.5year old 44lb son. I even called both to inquire about this. They said not to use the LATCH system over a certain weight. I still do not understand why? Our vehicle manufacturer has no recommendation either I found when I inquired with them. The car seat manufacturers Britax and Graco instucted me to use the seatbelt to anchor the car seat in. What if the seat belt fails? I even thought why not use both the seat belt and LATCH system then if one fails there is a backup? The car seat manufacturer explicitly says NEVER to use both in the user manual and when I called customer service. It is unclear to me why? I do not know which is safest or more reliable.

My family received the H1N1 intranasal last week without complications or side effects. It seems some people are "scared" of the words live virus which is understandable. But to one's surprise, other vaccines our children receive are "live" such as MMR. I am grateful there are choices. I'd rather have my child receive the intranasal vaccine than a shot because the shot can cause some discomfort upon injection and shortly after.

My kids just got the flu vaccine in the nasal spray form, which was a lot less fear-inducing than the shot--something else to consider. By the way, they had NO side effects whatsoever, so I was very pleased about that.

My little girl is fully vaccinated, but I chose to space her vaccines and split up the MMR...more co-pays, more shots, but in the end it was the right decision for us. My issue is not with Thimerisol (because, as you stated in your post it is not common in present-day vaccines), I am, however, concerned about the amount of aluminum in the vaccines and that there have been no studies on the effect of such high doses of aluminum on babies.

I have a 4 year old daughter and we have recently informed her, we will be adding a little one to our family. I am currently 3 months pregnant and we are trying to keep her excited and letting her know about everything. Although there really isn’t anything to feel yet, she likes to rub my belly every once in a while. This morning as I am dropping her off at pre-school, she wants to know if all of her friends can feel my belly. Bless her, but how crazy would I look standing in the middle of her pre-school class, letting her 4 to 5 yr old friends feel my belly.
